What is Ulum?
Ulum's mission is to bring math learning back to life.
Ulum is en education platform that pairs the best math teachers with local elementary school students to teach them math, so they can learn skills to excel in school, and for life.
We use 1-on-1 25-minute learning sessions to teach children math concepts with focus and depth.
We build technology that supports teachers in teaching the math concepts effectively.
Ulum is built for parents who care about their kid’s math education.
What does Ulum mean?
The word ulum (علوم) is an Arabic word that goes back many, many centuries.
It’s the plural of the word ilm, which translates to science. The word ilm can also mean knowledge, learning, or lore.
We picked it because we’re big believers in STEM learning, and math in particular, as the biggest life hacks in today’s world.
Who are we?
Ulum was founded by Karim Zaidi and Basit Chaudhry in October 2024.
Why are we building Ulum?
Because modern math education sucks.
Karim has a toddler daughter of his own and wants to get ahead of her math and stem education, and is worried about the state of the public education system.
Basit has three kids, and just took one out of school for full-time homeschooling. He’s building Ulum for her and for all his friends who want to do the same.
